Our Farm's Story
Hi, we’re the Morrisons—and we run Earnest Roots Farm.
Farming runs deep in our blood. Kiley is a third-generation farmer who grew up on this very land we farm. Her grandfather, Ernest, was a dairy farmer from Wisconsin. He moved down to Alabama and married Kiley's grandmother who already owned cattle and lived on this farm. Kiley's dad, Phillip, followed in her footsteps and has spent his life on this farm raising beef cattle.
Today, we work and raise our family on the same farm- and we're honored to carry on the legacy. The beef we raise and sell through Earnest Roots Farm comes directly from Phillip's herd. The cattle are born, raised, and finished right here. It's truly a family operation.
Our personal farming journey into farming began in earnest in 2017, after the birth of our first son. Like many new parents, we started asking a lot of questions:
Where does our food come from? Who grows it? How is it produced? Why are chemicals used to make it grow? What impact does it have on our health—and the environment? How are animals raised and fed? What are GMOs? And what do all these food labels even mean?
Most people can’t answer these questions—and we couldn’t either. So, we dug in and started learning. What we found changed everything.
We decided to become part of a growing movement to reconnect farmers and consumers. That simple phrase—“Know your farmer, know your food”—has never meant more. And now, we’d love to be your farmer.
At Earnest Roots Farm, we’re committed to producing the healthiest, most nutrient-dense, and flavorful food we can—with quality over quantity every step of the way.
- Pigs and laying hens are supplemented with GMO-free and soy-free grain. In addition to that, they love the bugs, digging, and grass they get on pasture.
- Meat chickens are raised on pasture, enjoying grass, bugs, sunshine, and fresh air. We offer two options: both GMO-free and Soy-Free, with one being organically fed.
- Beef and lamb are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished—just as nature intended.
We farm using regenerative agriculture and holistic animal management. No synthetic fertilizers here—just compost, manure, and a focus on building healthy, living soil.
We believe animals were not meant to live on concrete floors or dirt lots. God created each one with unique design, and they thrive in a biodiverse environment. That’s why we use portable housing and electric netting—so our animals are always on the move, grazing fresh pasture and living the good life.
When animals live as they were created to, the result is a radically different product. You can taste the difference. You can feel the difference. And the nutritional value is bar none.
We’re deeply grateful for your support. Every time you shop local, you help farmers like us keep going. You give us the means to grow, to care for our land and animals, and to offer even more to your family’s table.
Thank you for being part of this story.
