These fluffy buttermilk biscuits will make you want to have buttermilk on hand all the time!
The secret? Make sure your butter is frozen!
- Prep Time:
- Cook Time:
- Servings: 12
Ingredients
- (3.5 Cups) All Purpose Flour
- (1 TBSP) Baking Powder
- (1 tsp) Sea Salt
- (2 TBSP) Sucanat ( or other sweetner)
- (1/2 Cup) Frozen (or very cold) Butter
- (1.5 Cups) Buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees
- Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sucanat together in a large bowl.
- Take your butter and GRATE or cut into small pieces into the flour mixture and mix well. Since I've started using frozen butter and grating it, these are much fluffier!
- Add your buttermilk a little at a time and knead together.
- Do not overknead! This is key - FLOUR your surface and roll out the dough to about one inch thick.
- Cut your biscuits out using a cup or biscuit cutter (I usually use the closet Mason jar)
- Place on an ungreased baking sheet. You can place them closer together for softer biscuits and farther apart for crunchier.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes and then cool (if you can wait!) on a wire rack.
