Buttermilk Biscuits
These fluffy buttermilk biscuits will make you want to have buttermilk on hand all the time! The secret? Make sure your butter is frozen!
  • Prep Time:
  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • (3.5 Cups) All Purpose Flour
  • (1 TBSP) Baking Powder
  • (1 tsp) Sea Salt
  • (2 TBSP) Sucanat ( or other sweetner)
  • (1/2 Cup) Frozen (or very cold) Butter
  • (1.5 Cups) Buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sucanat together in a large bowl.
  3. Take your butter and GRATE or cut into small pieces into the flour mixture and mix well. Since I've started using frozen butter and grating it, these are much fluffier!
  4. Add your buttermilk a little at a time and knead together.
  5. Do not overknead! This is key - FLOUR your surface and roll out the dough to about one inch thick.
  6. Cut your biscuits out using a cup or biscuit cutter (I usually use the closet Mason jar)
  7. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. You can place them closer together for softer biscuits and farther apart for crunchier.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes and then cool (if you can wait!) on a wire rack.
